Hello!

I am Mrs. Mary K. Johnson and I teach elementary special education at Griffin School.  I can be reached at 866-5841 or by email at mjohnson@griffinschool.us.  Jan Skillman is the para educator who works alongside me in serving the academic needs of our students.

In the Resource Room we serve students with IEPs (Individual Education Plans) in 2 ways.  The majority of the time the student leaves the regular ed classroom and comes to the Resource Room for instruction on the goals (reading, writing and/or math)  on their IEP.  Occasionally Mrs. Skillman  or myself will go into the student's class and assist.

Jan and I teach small groups of from 1-6 IEP students.  We mainly use direct instruction programs that are highly structured  and are recommended by learning professionals. Monthly progress is measured and recorded on all IEP goals.  I work closely with the classroom teacher to monitor progress in the general ed classroom and see if modifications are necessary to their classroom environment.
